20 years at the longest. clamshell ibook was released in 1999, iphone 2007. eight years betwen a laptop and a computer in your pocket.

I’m really excited by the idea of spatial computing… which feels like it could give you the power of computers while allowing you to stay present in your physical environment.

And maybe Humane got it right and the future of personal computing is sorta invisible and mostly voice interface rather than  augmenting reality. 
I got to say, I find the former more appealing (even though makes most of my design skills redundant 😝)

True!! Though the path from cel phone to smart phone was a little more clear
I feel like the solution for spatial computing without device on face is truly some sci fi shit like a chip in your brain. That feels less certain / clear to me

Staring at a screen has a this weird effect of pulling me out of the present which can leave me feeling discombobulated 

Not totally excited by having a ski goggle computer strapped to my face though. Seems like it it puts a barrier between you and surrounds just like a screen

Yeah. It’s gonna be interesting to see this play out.

Everyone is impressed w this thing… but no one I know wants to pay for one / can see a killer use case (even the fan boys).

just realism! big leap from "this technology exists" to "people totally want this". not entirely sure these vr goggles are anything more than a great way to watch tv
