It’s easier to build for the web and way faster to launch, release updates, etc. The ability to diy and explore and play is what really drives innovation and the design and development process for native apps are just too intensive to find that

I think because mobile apps tend to just blend in with the OS. Like every notable iOS app is probably built on Swift, which massively encourages you to just make your app look like an Apple app.
Whereas web dev is an unrestricted blank canvas.

I think this is unequivocally true given that enshittification has taken over most phone apps

For ex: I was just using Youtube and getting frustrated that they won't show a channel's videos in chronological order/instead have to infuse every screen with unrelated content

It's so uninspiring. Build less, design more.

I've found myself finding more inspiration from the web vs apps. Whereas nearly 5-10 years ago, the opposite was true. I think a lot of app design is boring.

Product POV: I understand why, but all apps seem the same now.

Maybe because (reductionist simplification ahead) apps are tools and websites are publications? You’re less likely to find an unorthodox but viable design for a hammer than for a pamphlet.
