The first time I saw something similar was with https://commitmono.com/, albeit it was called “smart kerning”. Texture healing definitely has more punch, though, haha. 

If editors like VSCode fully commit to this new style of dynamic typography, I’d say we’re in for a treat.

With the release of https://monaspace.githubnext.com/, it looks like we’re entering a new stage for monospace typographies. 

Texture healing (alongside ligatures and other opentype features) is an interesting way of sanitizing a big issue with monospace fonts.
