How come? (If you don’t mind expanding on it.)
I’m thinking of leaving product design and going back to an agency. That or growing my freelance business. Tech just isn’t it for me.
A lot of reasons, but mainly that the work I enjoy doing is on the brand and marketing side moreso than the product.
Any reason you don’t want to do brand or marketing in tech? No judgement just curious …
I really miss the variety of clients and projects I had in my agency days!
slowly coming to realize this too….. although I’m currently on the hunt, the more and more I interview, the less and less I want to keep talking to product people at a mid to big org. Some exciting stuff and so flooded with peeps like me, looking. But honestly.. it’s mostly meh..
This is a good description. It’s stressful but in a good way (depending on the agency 😅… I’ve been in some ones that were toxic af). While I learned a lot being in product for 6 years… I’ve felt like my growth and craft really plateaued and that’s not a good feeling.
agree. there is plenty of toxicity at some agencies. that didn’t last though….. and I agree with you 💯 on plateauing. honestly.. huge reason for turnover for me.
It’s really tough to make a leap right now in this job market. I really don’t know what to do. All I know is something has to change for me.
