Before we talk about how many rides there were, back in the day, rides used to cost $4-6 to get across the city (SF and Seattle) and maybe $10-20 to get to the airport.

Oh wow! I joke I wouldve taken fewer if I lived in a major metro but a lot of that was being in a public transportation desert in rural parts of Pennsylvania outside of Pittsburgh for work etc. 

You covered some MILES. Wow.

And you’re absolutely right about pricing it was almost too good to be true. They handed out a lot of cool promo stuff back then too so it was pretty cute and “innocent” cause everyone was figuring it out. There werent taxi services where I was (or they werent common).

This is my kind of gamification. Though the last time I took a ride was 2022.
