Studio is next spring, possibly at the same time as the Air but probably a quarter later.

So, a Studio-sized Pro!!!? (And just get rid of Studio altogether!)

Expansion ports are one of the main reasons, even though the Studio is still lacking. M4 Ultra will hopefully have better/more GPU cores too because although inference is great, I'd still prefer training via CUDA, but hopefully the gap is smaller after the update.

with this, do we even get an updated Mac Studio? This is essentially that, but smaller and better. Next would be Mac Pro I'm guessing... why update the Studio?

There’s a hard limit on the Mac mini’s performance that is fine for most people but if you want uncompromising performance isn’t acceptable. MacBook Pros spec way higher than minis.
