I've worked freelance, I've worked contract, I've been laid off two times, a company completely changed courses and I wasn't down for it, so I looked elsewhere...

I just think there is too much unsaid, and too much judgment passed on that metric alone.

Instead. "I've worked professionally as a Software Designer for 10yrs, here are some highlights."

I bring that up, because it seems intentional. There is so much said and un-said in that metric. But it never ever tells the full story, yet it conveys all the wrong vibes. "Oh this person jumps around, pass" or "This person must not be any good" etc.
