From my personal experience I can tell, my behavior has changed after the pandemic, which is caused from having too much zoom meetings, there was always some meeting sound n my ears and it was too much for me, and that may be a reason why I rarely work with music on nowadays.

If it works for you, it works for you. I find it's helpful to put on a bit of lofi in the background, especially if I'm not particularly investing in what I'm working on. Helps my mind stay engaged a bit more.

Focus work during non-meeting days is amazing to get into the flowstate.

When I have more than 2-3meetings in a day I rarely play music.

I have gotten so used to doing homework while listening to music that not having music is a bit “weird” to me. Also critical for me to cancel all the background noise and distractions (ofher people talking, etc.) I wonder if I am more productive without it though!

I go back and forth, I also work from the lanai and have the hum of AC all day to white noise for me.

For me, when doing anything requiring lots of thinking I  use white noise or the noise cancellation setting on my headphones. Music is great when I have to get through a lot of known/repetitive tasks.

Sometimes I just put the headset on, and I'll forget to turn the music and I lost myself working for 3 hours straight and All I heard is my tinnitus ringing during that hour and it doesn't bother me anymore lol

I think of music as a mood-lifter rather than a productivity tool. Does it make you get through an otherwise gloomy workday? Then it's welcomed—especially music that’s light on lyrics.

I‘m an Endel.io user for years, but listen to music as well. Always depends on the situation.

Always playing music but yes some music is more distracting than others. Usually lean into chiller stuff when working.
