I mean I understand that and that's probably why figma uses it as their default font as well but I was l referring to people declaring inter as one of the most important fonts in the future. That I don't get. 

I like futura a lot more than inter for sure

Maybe it is the ease of use. It is tough to mess up compared to many typefaces.

Inter is pretty close to SF if you slightly kern it.

Might be why it has as much popularity as it does 🤷‍♂️

From my POV, Inter is a good interface font and it has an open license. I'm assuming Apple's SF is more restrictive.

Mainly for titles but I guess sometimes if there's not a lot of text then a futura or futura light for body looks more uniform to me. But If there's a lot of text then probably Neue Haas Grotesk. I think SF Pro looks the best but you can't really use them outside Apple platforms

I like inter, it's simple. But a great alternative is Satoshi

Yeah I agree I already replied to someone clarifying that I meant headings and very small amounts of texts. That too only with variable weights. Still Inter spacing is so unnatural to me? Do other people not feel it? Like inter spacing alongside Helvetica is just so weird.

i've had to work with futura and it's really awful. if you are not skilled at typography, Futura can look heavy and dated. Inter is light and doesn't leave so much of an impression. Also due to lack of good writing, there's often reams of words which Inter can support.

idk if it is as much a fascination as it is just robust and reliable. 

what do you like as an alternative? fonts are fun 🤩

to be clear this was in a corporate environment where many levels of aptitude were "designing".
