In midjourney I usually start with an era (1980's) + movie genre (neo noir) + film and then your subject/enviroment described. If I can't get what I want in mj then I use comfyui for more control. You can find premade workflows at comfyworkflows.com for starting points

do you find stable diffusion produce better results than midjourney in some cases?

Midjourney does better with the film aesthetic out of the box. Usually I try MJ first but if I can’t get what I’m looking for stable diffusion is great for getting really granular with the controls

Midjourney and ComfyUI (pinokio.computer for running comfy locally) > magnific.ai > dehancer.com! A little pricey but worth it
