I think what I will end up doing is adding an “opt-in” / “opt-out” UI for everyone else, with the default being “opt-out”, for their own content
wait is it possible to not have a pinning option available, not that i wouldn't want people to find my items but 👀 (saying this as someone who lives with privacy-paranoid parents)
I think this has the possibility of being a game changer for platform usability, but I want to treat carefully for sure. For now, Featured only, and when I figure out how to handle the rest I will communicate it.
I will probably add a final onboarding step where users can toggle their default privacy settings. Privacy on the platform, privacy from Pinterest sharing, etc. I do not want to violate user privacy at the expense of app growth.
tytyty!! i think while subscribing to social media in turn we are consenting to a public profile most oftentimes, but I think this is definitely a lot of relief on my part; i totally forgot how multi-faceted and linked the internet is capable of being for a moment
Yeah, for now I am only rolling this out for features profiles, with the understanding that features profiles are already going to be used across social media platforms for promotion, so it does not feel like a privacy violation.
