other than that – it's a grid where each square is weighted by (a series of) sine waves to produce a number between 0 and 1, which is then used to pick a color from a gradient :—)

I prototype in Origami, which primarily runs on numbers switching from 0 to 1 or vice versa, so your explanation made sense to me!

(which probably sounds more boring and complicated than it is – it's really not – just hard to summarize concretely, quickly!)
