Wow these are amazing!! I make at least one hat every year, never tried socks 🙈
I’m 2.5 months into my knitting journey and finally put together enough courage to start knitting socks. This is my very very first sock, first time knitting in the round, first time using magic loop. I’m so proud ✨ (Now I gotta knit the second one, lol 🙈🙈🙈)
Thank you so much! Yeah socks sound really daunting, I was a little scared, but it worked out fine! Do you have different hat patterns that you use, or is there a fave one? Anything you can recommend?
At this point I just wing it: - ~80 stitches on size 8 round needle is about my size. - 5/5 ribbing for like 10-16 rows for a nice foldable brim - knit a bunch of rows (hats are taller than you think) - start reducing every other row, then each - switch to double pointed - done
sounds great! I’m far from winging stuff but I’ve def made adaptations. Also this pattern looks so pretty, love the waffle pattern! 😍 I do want to try making hats soon, but first I might try my hand at mittens (lol no pun intended)
And today I made something in a cable pattern for the first time and I absolutely love it, so I wanna do more of that, too.
Amazing what a day off work with uninterrupted(ish) focus time can do! My daughter and I are both home sick 😇
Wow, this seems so impressive! I'd love to challenge myself into learning knitting this year (I did some simple things like scarfs in the past) Where did you start? 👀
I’m actually thinking of writing a post about this! the tl;dr: start with smtg not too challenging & move up in difficulty. Find tutorial videos (or blog content) that works for you. Also a nice way to start is with a knitting kit where you get everything (needles, yarn, pattern)
“Wool and the gang” and “we are knitters” are two brands that do knitting kits, the yarns might be expensive but they have reaaaaally nice colours that you don’t always get at more traditional stores.
