The Figma price increase hits differently when you're wearing multiple hats – freelancer, full-time designer, and contractor. 🧵

While my full-time job covers the cost, I've seen firsthand how hard it is to justify additional seats to leadership who view it as "just another design tool" rather than the collaboration powerhouse it truly is.

As a freelancer though? That price jump hits my personal budget hard, especially when I'm not using Dev Mode, FigJam, or Slides for every project.

Agree on this. Having an option to choose tools would be great. I guess the main focus is on large teams and organizations since it means bigger checks. Independent creators are not that profitable even though I'm one of those 🤷🏻‍♀️

Freelancers and small agencies definitely aren’t an afterthought. The output from the big Fig goes in waves. Attention on one function or scale, iterate, move on to the next. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some small adjustments over time and / or renewed focus on indiv. soon

Would love to see that!

Figma revolutionized design collaboration, but should accessing industry-standard tools come at the cost of excluding part of the community?

Curious: How are other freelancers and design teams handling the Figma price changes? Are you using all the tools in the suite, or would you prefer a more flexible pricing model? 🤔

It’s hard actually, Figma is too good to move on but this price change is enough for my team to look for alternatives. The company I’m working on is not a tech-focused so they don’t allocate the budget for us. Ala carte is def a good idea but seems they won’t go that way.
