This was how my dad taught me! The little triangle in step 5 is CRUCIAL. (Although, I don’t know how these instructions got the triangle poking out, I always had to cut the paper in order to fold it in.)

There’s a couple different ways I know to do this. One is in the instructions, where you fold the paper down further to get the triangle further down the plane. Instead of folding where you make the line, fold past it.

The other way is, when you fold in the corners the 2nd time, instead of folding them so they are touching along their edges, fold them at a bit of an angle so only their corners touch, leaving space between the triangles. The plane won’t come to a point, but to a flat edge on top
