I use Fantastical for calendar (available both on ios and osx) but for task management and productivity, Things has been the recent favorite: https://culturedcode.com/things/

I use Reminders. 

I have a “today” list, a “this week” list and a “someday” list. 

Works well for me.

Can anyone recommend a good desktop app for keeping track of appointments/daily tasks? Some kind of calendar? I just need something because right now I’m using a paper calendar and that has to stop 😅
