Jealous! We don’t get morels where I live in NZ. The one I posted was Boletus Edulis / Porcini.

You’re on the right tracks! It’s black trumpet, craterellus cornucopioides. One of my favorites for sure.

This particular species only grows alongside a few species of host trees. So they can’t be cultivated! A prized edible mushroom. And a really fun thing to forage.
