I’ve fully embraced Cosmos.so. Easily the best thing I’ve tried.

Working on an app right now for this that is native (not web-based) and stores your files locally. We're hoping to release it  soon: gather.do

Understandable, I suppose there was a little bit of a learning curve for me when I first started using it. I find the act of using Arena is more of a delayed gratification compared to other apps. It's also under active development and seem pretty open to user feedback

Ideally,if a service adopts a "files over app" approach, it would be the best scenario. However, if I'm using an app that doesn't allow me to export my files or preserve some of original structure, I would consider it to be a form of lock-in

Granted, I only fully embraced Eagle after I created a shortcut to add things to a watched folder in the Files app

Eagle for me right now mostly because I can simply pull from any service into it and own the data.

How do you guys save references? Eagle.cool, are.na, pinterest, cosmos, savee.it , other?

More interest in apps that won't lock me in

I believe that or savee with the Dropbox sync feature, are the best options. I will follow your advice and give it a try since I already have an eagle license. Thank you!

I use arena as a paid supporter $70usd per year. 75% of the time i save via chrome extension, 20% via web and 5% from mobile. 

Arena also supports a full zip export of every channel so you can easily get files if you need them.

+1 for Eagle, so smooth and fast, local storage.

I really try to love are.na. I love what you can find there, the community is full of smart people, and the team behind it is so transparent in an awesome way. And although I like the brutalism vibe, I can't stop feeling the whole experience is cumbersome

i was looking for things 3 of visual bookmarking apps but nothing really satisfied me. i use cosmos now but social aspects of it doesnt interest me. its still between cosmos vs mymind. i've also tried fabric but it feels extremely unfinished
