I finally gave up on Obsidian for the third time.

That’s wise and mature of you. I’ve stopped trying to find the one true notes app. So I haven’t settled on anything, but I’m not trying to create a “personal knowledge system”. I just take notes when I feel like it in whatever place is convenient:)

It’s not perfect but it seems to have just enough features for my needs without having too many.

It also has the ability to sync using iCloud instead of their servers which is great since my work VPN blocks everything fun 😏

Obsidian-Lazy : PKM, Apple notes for quick notes, Notion for databases & bookmark, and Noto for to-do list only.

A lot, I know. Still trying to simplify everything and only use 2-3 apps maximum.

As a follow up, I’ve started really enjoying using Craft. It’s got the speed of Apple Notes with some of the backlinking features of Obsidian without feeling like it’s held together with duct tape. AI integration is also nice, though I wish I could use it to search within my docs

100% there’s so many permutations to cover but done the right way it could be very powerful with limited user maintenance.

Yeah it’s growing on me again. I’ve also found that for quick saves, I’ve been using Raycast quick notes.

I’m still using Obsidian. Can I be convinced to try something else? I’m pretty happy with it.

Apple Notes daily. Once in a while I use Craft but only because it is available in my Setapp subscription.

I just imported my entire Obsidian database into a “pre-Craft” folder just so I can easily delete if I regret the decision

Bear's tags are much better, especially for personal knowledge management.

I use Apple Notes. I bounced around numerous apps until I realized I was not gaining anything.

yeah they have different visions. I love the brutal simplicity of Edit.

I'm using Craft — it has some strange idiosyncrasies and its table support mostly sucks, but it makes working with text feel like you're using an app — and once you get the hang of it, it can be quite powerful.

This is what prompted my question. It seems like it’s a more native application of the Obsidian concepts that I like, but I’m wary of how “team-oriented” it seems. 

The integration with Things and the AI features definitely got me interested.

Same. Tana Capture isn’t enough. Hopefully they have plans for an actual mobile app for it :< For now I’ll wait

I keep finding myself coming back to Apple Notes

I’ve been using Tana as well but I don’t love not having access to all my notes on iOS, and I’m not sure my brain works in an “outliner” way. I love the supertags though.

Collaboration is still a bit basic, but I appreciate how cross-platform it is.

Was using Reflect but coming back to Apple Notes mainly due to shortest time-to-capture (from picking up the phone).

Tana / Tana Capture for daily log.

Notion for docs, files and specific sharing capabilities.

Apple Notes for personal random notes.

I’m on the craft document train too. It’s one of the more beautiful apps I’ve used, it’s hard for a document to not look good. 

Also sharing a document with insights and comments is a nice touch.

What’s everyone using for notes these days?

All of those are excellent points. I worry about feature bloat and it feeling more geared to teams, and I can sort of see tags working better for the way I work. But being able to use Assistant as a thought starter and immediately send it to Things or Bear has kept it in my dock.

(I'm on some plain text minimalism sh*t rn tho, so Edit on mobile and Plain Text Editor on desktop)

Notes for most things using the PARA Method for organization.

Notion when needed for formatting, collaboration and some other useful features.

Really hope someone uses AI in a meaningful way for the notes / knowledge-base / personal wiki area.

Really just want to be able to feed my notes into a privacy-focused AI and have it find what I need instead of having to dig around or try to remember what note a particular item was in

Yep! Edit is cut so sharp you can almost cut your finger on it and I love it

I use my notes as a reference. A personal knowledge system is a bit too complex for my brain. Keeping a historical record is more my goal.

I am as well. It’s lightweight enough to replace Notes and I’m really enjoying the tagging/nested tagging system

That’s what I said! I got the email that Bear 2 was released finally and decided to try it out again. Signed up for Pro again and my entire trash from years ago got filled. Treasure trove of old notes 😆
