To the people posting job openings: $80K/year is not enough to live in NYC. It was barely enough 15 years ago. Not even close now. Either be open to remote employees, or raise your salary.

That’s it, no more using SSDs for mac Time-Machine backups. They always crap out. Going back to good old spinning HDs.

They are closely related and there is overlap, but they are NOT the same job. They require different skills, different training, different expertise. Unfotunately nearly every job listing I come across wants a unicorn who is an expert in both.

Since March 13 I have applied to 914 jobs, received 369 rejections (most without even talking to a person), 18 screens, and 10 interviews. Most applications never reply.

#jobsearch peeves:

• Company post listing, then several weeks later slightly changes the title, making you think it's a new posting. It's not.

• Company post new listing on job board, but the link to application says "job no longer available"

in the last 4 months I've applied to 1273 jobs. 499 sent rejection emails. 15 gave me interviews. 514 / 1273 is 40%, meaning 60% didn't reply at all. Makes you wonder how many of those are fake listings that never intended to hire anyone at all...

I tried one of those AI headshot generators. Did not like the output. Realized that I need to take better source photos to train it on. But if I take better source photos, what's the point of the AI photos? #justtakebetterphotos
