If you want a physical rack, I'd suggest figuring out your intention with the type of sound/music you want to make. And that will guide you a lot. Modular synths look complex, but they break down synthesis into something tangible.

I can dive deeper into Eurorack and modular synthesis. I don't know how in-depth I can communicate the complexities in Posts format.

If you have any resources that online, that would be great. I honestly don’t really have the funds for a rack right now either way but would like to build one in the foreseeable future 😊

There's also a bit of a DIY community as well. Check out Omri Cohen on YouTube. He has a bunch of VCV rack tutorials that are super helpful. What's super cool is you can eventually have the VCV rack work with your physical rack :)

modwiggler.com/forum is also a solid community for modular synths and outboard gear—a good place for discussion, questions, and buying things second-hand

I would recommend starting in the VCV rack. Modular synths are super expensive and can be such a money sink, but luckily, many companies have their physical modules remodeled digitally on there.
