I track my reads in notion and I try to leave a brief note about what I learned, liked, or found interesting. I don’t rate based on how likely I am to recommend it… I need to know something about the reader to recommend a book for them.

I built my own system in Tana because everything else felt heavy. But it’s not social. Similar to what @taylorp said for reasons.

For about three years I’ve been tracking this on my own personal Notion database. I cared too much about it to lose it when a site shuts down.

i like to do it with literal.club & haven’t thought about the “out of 5 stars rating” vs. “do you recommend it or not” until now :0

Do you keep track of books you are reading with an app like Goodreads, StoryGraph, Literal, etc? What do you think of rating books with star ratings (3/5 stars)? 

For me the only rating that matters is, do you recommend the book or not?

I use GR too…
For me.. 
3 stars is a book I enjoyed but will not recommend.
4 stars is a book I liked a lot and will recommend to some people I know
5 stars will recommend to everyone and will give it as a present

I use both GoodReads and Oku. GoodReads for its complete directory, Oku for its UIUX.

I do, I track this on my personal database & update my social “book tracking” profiles accordingly when I have time. I like to rate books mainly as a reminder to myself, and I love the system they have on storygraph with “quarter stars”. (Big diff between 3 and 4 ⭐️ imho!)

I just have the books in my kindle, same as you regarding the rating
