Hi! What’re you working on? How’re you finding it?

I am working on everything haha. I do their pitch deck designs that they send to clients, I redesigned their website and I recently fid another website for another idea they had. Literally whatever they need, I am designing. Togggle.io. Zyphe.com These are the 2 websites. You? 😊

Nice! The sites look excellent, nice job. We (Endlesss) have an iOS app and desktop apps, a web app, and then I also do bits for marketing, social, Webflow sites, pitch decks, strategy… and Arcade machine cabinets! It’s a lot but a fun challenge!

Thank you 😊 Yeah we are building the app now, it is almost done and it will be used to do KYC (Know Your Customer) checks. We don’t really do social media at the moment but if we start, I will have to do designs for that as well 😄

Will have to keep an eye on it, a good KYC solution might be useful at some point!

It’s been great so far — coming on for a year. I love the product so that’s good. Still a lot of legacy UI from before I joined I want to fix, and the front end stack is kinda annoying, but slowly improving things. Hard to also do social, marketing, video, print, strategy…!

Levelling up the legacy stuff is so satisfying! We had a much bigger marketing team than product, trying to keep the marketing going was probably more stressful than any of the product work for me

Yeah I feel that, have to admit I’m not as keen on the marketing side, I just want to be deep in knotty UX but has to be done!

Been there, am sorta there now too. Except it’s already a few years old and highly technical product (Unity3D plugin for AI-assisted QA in game dev) built almost exclusively by engineers. It’s fun 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

Sounds it! Ours is a few years in too but I only joined a year ago when there wasn’t a full time designer previously, lots to do! Also pretty technical in some areas as it’s a music tool, but yours sounds very. Do you do a lot of user research?

I started just 3 weeks ago, mid-sprint(s) towards the year’s largest games industry expo in a week, so…no haha 🌪️🌊 It’s the plan though, but a lot of the work rn is just to scaffold and introduce basic design process actions to the teams

Yeah makes sense. I’ve sporadically managed to fit some in and thankfully have a CEO, backend dev and PM who all try to get it done too, but it’s hard to integrate it properly, still a work in progress!

It sure is. I’ve realized with time that orgs either want to do this or not. Trying to steer a boat, by nudging it from down the engine room, never justifies the opportunity cost when compared to running the engine on a ship that’s already en course
