What parts of chengdu would you stay in as a newbie? Ill be there for about 3 days

Probably close to the center of the city. Last time I stayed near the river, near the Jinjiang Hotel stop on subway line 1 and it was convenient.

Headed to Hong Kong🇭🇰 and then Chengdu🇨🇳 in a week. Any food recs or sights to see?
