What is your approach to store and manage photos?

@preciousm @marekminor I also tried to store it in the cloud, but it gets full quite fast. What tier do you have?

Btw. do you have a specific folder structure?

Lightroom CC. I’ve considered using iCloud with Darkroom, but some tools in Lightroom I’d really miss, e.g. the one for automatically fixing geometries when taking pictures of or in front of buildings.

The thing you get with a NAS is the management. Synology software makes it relatively easy despite their apps not always being A+ experiences.

Also if you're not running those extra HDDs in RAID (1 or better), you're going to have a very bad day eventually

Wait a second, did you mean everyday iPhone photos (Google Photos) or RAW photos from Fujifilm camera (Lightroom, Dropbox backup & hardware storage backup)?

Google Photos and a small, tiny monthly Google subscription (that also solved the “out of storage” alert on Gmail)

Mac mini with extra harddrives and backblaze. I’ve always debated whether or not I should add NAS but figure backblaze is enough redundancy.

I have storage figured out, but management is a disaster. Would love to know what people do for that with multiple people in a household.

A server in my closet + cloud backup to Backblaze once a week. This is overkill, but for any data you care about, you should have onsite + offsite backups.

Ah, I see. I have the 2TB plan. Not a systemised structure. I just name my folders based on what I want to save in them. I barely take photos with my phone, so I just have a folder called “Fujifilm Photos” and inside I have “Raw” and “Edits”.

That is, as of currently, my approach as well. Therefore, looking for help. 😅
