I had no idea that ferns were edible! Apparently, the sprouts of the Lady Fern have a nutty and slightly sweet flavor. I've been trying to find some to try, but it seems like it might be too late in the season for sprouts.
Ferns are a thing in Korean cuisine, so you can find dehydrated ones at the Korean grocery store (they are brown when dried.) I used to hate them as a kid and always tried to pick them out of my bibimbap, but I appreciate them now.
Haha yes, the gosari! I’ve seen more fiddleheads in western cuisine in recent years too, but gosari is definitely the first place my mind goes when it comes to eating fern.
