Need? Maybe not. Personally, I consider PMs builders and I want builders than can tell the stories about the things they've built - but that contribution can be hard to articulate when it's less inherently creative (design) or structural (engineering) - what do you think?

I attend a lot of PM events in Houston. They have never really talked about having a portfolio. It's really the resume and how they can articulate it. Portfolio these days are visuals and it doesn't do PMs justice if folks end up focusing on the wrong thing on their portfolio.

Agree with that; perhaps "portfolio" is the blocker here - how does a PM tell their builder story through a medium that they build with? There's something to be said about the affluence conveyed by a creative and opinionated digital existence for digital builders.
