That is really nicely made. Great job! I love all the little details and interactions you've put in. A small thing that cut my eye — when I was trying to go back to the overview from the invoice, I kept clicking on the dark background. Maybe that's just me, though. 😃

Got it. From my random clicking around, I thought that it is like a modal, or could feel like one. But if the invoice is a standalone entity, then your approach is the right one to take. Otherwise, you would face roles-management, i.e. displaying different UI elements.
