My trainer's kitten showed up today to work out which I was very happy about.

It's always satisfying to see an opener you saw level up whether it's a bigger tour next time & seeing their music get more visibility.

I avoided composting for a long time because I had a friend (in Vermont, of course) who did and their house was always full of flies in the summer. Then I ran across someone who kept their small waste bin in the fridge and that made it seem more accessible.

Now that I'm done teaching and back home for real, doing all sorts of debating. Will I renew my lease? Should I move upstairs? Down the street? To another city entirely? Lots of debating.

Finally dropped my Spotify premium, the discovery on the other apps isn't as good. But I can still migrate my playlists.

Ordered a photo from the Oregon Historical Society, but they didn't tell me they were working on it they just like did it and then sent me an invoice randomly. Sort of hilarious, but appreciate the old school efficiency.

It's okay six days into the year not to have the whole year mapped out, but...challenging myself to get it figured out. Def want to modify my internet usage diet around social platforms, though.

Every year I coach I learn something new or change my approach in some way. We graduated a ton of players from last season. I've always been opposed to over-coaching, but this year I was adamant about my philosophy on getting kids to trust themselves on the court & it paid off.

Working on a revamp of my personal site, still a lazy jamstack situation because I don't want to overinvest in the design when the content is what matters to me. 

But debating whether I want to "brand" my personal practice in studio fashion or not. Less for marketing, for fun

I guess I need to make updated Moo cards because I don't want to trade Linkedin profiles with people at an event by pulling out my phone though I've seen so many variations of this...

Annoying that I bought a .design domain when it was on sale and now I use it so much that I actually have to renew it at full price.

I bought a modern cuckoo clock because I decided I wanted one and it took a few weeks but it showed up today. Can't wait for work to be done so I can go pick it up.

Apple Music discovery is so subpar relative to Spotify, makes it hard to switch. I try and I just end up listening to less music as a result.

Doing a pretty substantial spring cleaning of a bunch of old clothes I stopped wearing but I haven't gotten rid of. Thinking about embracing a more minimal personal uniform style of dressing. I like accessorizing, but I also think a capsule wardrobe would appeal to me

Designers being undervalued as strategists makes me think it's a framing problem.

So much less noise here still, which is great. Bluesky is blowing up so it's gotten a lot noiser seemingly overnight, which is nice but also a lot.

Finally solved my home internet problems without AI, though I guess once LLMs have hoovered up all of the user generated content on the internet I'll need to ask a bot for what reddit solved with a few pics.

For years, I never kept plants. Then during the lockdowns I ended up with a few smaller ones that despite my best efforts, I never managed to kill off. (Even bringing one back from the brink twice)

So when I moved recently, I graduated to two larger plants. We'll see how it goes

Portland doesn't have the same influx of new people moving in, so it's always been a tough city to connect but it's worse now. In another debating cycle of whether to bail or stick it out and change a bunch of stuff to make it better somehow.

I think I'm going to become a daily sport coat/blazer wearing person in 2025? I did a big wardrobe purge when I moved, but want to class up the winter fits a bit.

This weather staying pretty warm makes it hard for me to pair my fall fragrances because I still wanna wear summer things

Rdio as an IG music only posting clone. Wouldn't get enough eyeballs to monetize for the ghouls, but would be a fun modality for sharing music. I just want IG stories for sharing music and nothing else.

The last #xoxofest has been interesting to participate in. A post-internet internet conference nostalgic for what was lost, hopeful for what we can make next. I feel like there's a whole generation of folks who are doing the "next" thing that ought to get platformed

It was a good run here, fleeting or not, this was a nice little experiment and full of really nice interactions with folks I generally didn't know from anywhere else.

I wasn't sure how to honor the 20th anniversary of the sport I designed and let the anniversary lapse (save for buying the domain again) without much commemoration, but got some inspiration today and will use the anniversary to reboot my dormant newsletter.
