My dad had a Polaroid when I was a kid, so perhaps it's fitting that I decided on a whim to get a Fuji Instax camera and printer to print more of my photos out and to snap random photos when it makes sense.

I want to voice my vote for no growth metrics for this place as soon as you can monetize posting garbage this thing will be done for. Lots of other internet spaces to growth hack, I'm glad Posts isn't for that. It's an impressively hard thing to do in this modern ecosystem

It's always satisfying to see an opener you saw level up whether it's a bigger tour next time & seeing their music get more visibility.

I avoided composting for a long time because I had a friend (in Vermont, of course) who did and their house was always full of flies in the summer. Then I ran across someone who kept their small waste bin in the fridge and that made it seem more accessible.

Now that I'm done teaching and back home for real, doing all sorts of debating. Will I renew my lease? Should I move upstairs? Down the street? To another city entirely? Lots of debating.

Brunch is one of those things where I judge other locals based on their go-to brunch spots.

Finally dropped my Spotify premium, the discovery on the other apps isn't as good. But I can still migrate my playlists.

My problem with are.na right now is that I can aggregate stuff but it's harder to reference and go back. Kinda like bookmarks. I'd almost want a digest of stuff in there or easier findability.

Every year I coach I learn something new or change my approach in some way. We graduated a ton of players from last season. I've always been opposed to over-coaching, but this year I was adamant about my philosophy on getting kids to trust themselves on the court & it paid off.

Seems I should shuffle my liked songs more, because I like them?

Went a few months without Carrot (post-Dark Sky) when my subscription expired and it turns out, it was very handy paying for a well-designed weather app. I went back.

Upgraded my phone today (so I could hand my iPhone 13 down to a family member) and amazed at how easy they've made transferring your phone. Half my reason for avoiding upgrades is the misery of setup. It's also why I can't go back to Android even though I'd prefer to.

Put my new phone on greyscale this AM. Bought an instant film camera / printer combo this evening, because I'd been thinking about it for a long time and I miss the photo albums of my youth.

Halfway through the semester teaching service design.

Finally solved my home internet problems without AI, though I guess once LLMs have hoovered up all of the user generated content on the internet I'll need to ask a bot for what reddit solved with a few pics.

My savvier friends already know it, but I constantly am A/B testing bios and titles on social platforms. I did it all the time on Twitter and now with its demise, I do the same on Linkedin. I haven't been on the job market in years.

For years, I never kept plants. Then during the lockdowns I ended up with a few smaller ones that despite my best efforts, I never managed to kill off. (Even bringing one back from the brink twice)

So when I moved recently, I graduated to two larger plants. We'll see how it goes

Portland doesn't have the same influx of new people moving in, so it's always been a tough city to connect but it's worse now. In another debating cycle of whether to bail or stick it out and change a bunch of stuff to make it better somehow.

Marvis + Sonos combo seem to work and I can get the superior audio quality of Apple Music and still can scrobble. Tended to overindex on listening in Spotify because 1) no streaming music app does discovery better 2) scrobbling mostly works without lots of futzing

Occurred to me that fewer people would opt for the whole pick up in front of the airport thing if airports didn't charge by the minute for short-term parking.

Away from home for almost 8 weeks & the thing I missed most are the silly small things like having my speaker setup and all my books.

Jamming to old songs and I'm turning into an old person because I'm really noticing that all songs today are hooks with no buildup, no ballads. Just beats and hooks. I like a good beat and a good hook, but there's something nice about a song with a story arc.

Had thought about how Posts is the only network where the firehose feed isn't garbage, like I find such good stuff or interesting people or even when there's a take I'm like "hmm" about it just generates a cool conversation. This is def a moment in time, we should appreciate it.

Guess I'm gonna work on a "roll your own [state/local] digital service repo/site, something I'd been thinking about for a while, and feel like it's increasingly more relevant to make a non-proprietary, opinionated but open guidebook to helping policy types consider doing it.
