it would be a big shame to have them go to waste, it would be lovely to have a massive repo to pick and choose from - wont be as smooth as sites.cv but hopefully wont be a headscratcher

no that's also what I was picturing! Like I used read.cv for my "professional" site not because I couldn't build it myself, but because if I changed it often I wouldn't want to mess with code.

I was planning of scraping all of the templates and trying to figure them out with astro- its what i know for a lightweight blogging system but def not a self hosted cms

Upload your readcv export, get back a version with a built-in CMS that you then deploy yourself so it's yours forever. All profiles/sites (that opt in) feed into a community hub like before.  Would anyone be interested?

What I like about it is
1) People's profiles/sites doesn't go to waste
2) Non-coding folks can still actively edit and update their profiles/sites
3) People 'own' their code so there's no platform to disappear
4) We maintain the community hub / readcv homepage experience
