Fresh new personal website is out! https://lauraungrad.com/ Well, this is still work in progress — I can never settle on a final design — but thought I’d share my progress so far! If anybody has tips for building out projects (or case studies) drop a comment down below! :)

Nice website Laura. One thing I noticed is on mobile (Android => Chrome) I need to tap/click twice on About and Contact button in order to work. Is that intentional or bug?

Also I think the "Let's connect" SVG animation may need to be rethought (or exported to a PNG) because it lags REAL bad in Chrome on a Macbook Air M1. The only reason it doesn't lag my phone is because safari rasterizes, then animates.

SVGs are vector-based files, so they are preferred over PNGs. Both file and website are optimised for multiple browsers and devices and seem to be in working order, so it could be on your end.

The colored chips should eventually float back to home! Look at how the "Cubism" game on Oculus Quest does this.

Cool, but that’s personal preference, not a best practice rule.

I love the glass overlay and the idea of moving things with my thumb.

Finally, the "currently available for hire" sticker starts getting covered up by content if your aspect ratio is anything less than 16:9. (Think of mobile phones, maybe make it a straight line of text rotated 90deg)

Just noticed that your buttons have two hitboxes, one for the hover effect, and one for the link. It means that if you click a button, it won't do anything unless you click directly on top of the text. It can be confusing if someone clicks the edge of a button and nothing happens

Otherwise it's really clean, interactivity is an awesome addition, and the motion and animations feel professional!

I love the nav! And the colors feel great together.

That was a deliberate design decision as I didn’t want the badge to stand out as much, so I applied a higher zero index on other elements to keep the badge under the text.
