Nope. Small bio at the top of your resume is enough.

A lot of good responses there! One rule that I heard of is that if a cover letter is not required on the application then don’t include it. I just have it in my mind that it’s just another thing to read while going through hundreds of resumes.

I had the same question a while ago and my conclusion is that it depends on the recruiter and the vacancy (mostly the recruiter)

A was referring to a required input field to attach a cover letter. But, I’ve seen required fields labeled “tell us a little more about yourself ” or “why do you want to work with us” etc… Those are more specific than a cover letter I would say.

I thought of that. Pretty much what’s on read.cv. What if it’s a requirement for the application?

An actual requirement or just a field for one? If it's the former you can always gently elaborate on that same bio. A line or two about what interests you about the opportunity, that sorta thing.

If it's the latter... skip it! I always do haha.

If there is a cover letter, I'll always read it. However, it is not mandatory by any means.
