I’ve collected a few notes about creating demos of my prototypes. Recently, I’ve received a lot of questions about my filming process, so I’ve decided to share these notes with you ✨ medium.com/@danielamuntya…

I shoot similar demo videos but I often struggle with flickering issue on screens. Do you have any tips on that?

if you’re shooting with a camera, try going for a faster shutter speed. in the past i‘ve always filmed with an iphone (stock camera app) and fiddled around with the auto exposure (make sure to lock it) and adjusting the target‘s device brightness.

Ohh I just saw your reply - thanks for the tip!! I usually take videos with a camera and it’s cumbersome as I only realize there’s a flicker when I move things to my laptop 😂 Maybe I should keep this in mind and go with higher shutter speed for those videos

the reason for the flickering is a mismatch between the camera’s shutter speed and the display’s refresh rate. your older iphone 11 has a 60Hz display whereas newer models have up to 120Hz — so you’re more like to run into issues if your shutter speed isn’t aligned

(you can also try locking the device‘s refresh rate to 60Hz in settings. although I never tried that myself…)
