What are people’s thoughts on sabbaticals? Thinking about taking one in the new year.

Are there any designers in the Bay Area that would be interested in starting something to explore/practice design beyond the approaches we might typically take in the tech industry?

If you design for a living—especially if you’re earlier in your career—you should not be happy about any of these AI features in Figma

it is so fucking embarrassing being the last person to leave a group video call

I like that there's a noticeable difference in how folks are talking about Figma here versus on Twitter. No doubt there's been an admirable amount of effort with the releases, but there's a lot that needs to be discussed about Figma's implications and politics.

Now that I've finished my search, I need to say that people/companies are not putting their best foot forward with regard to recruiting. In all my time, I've never seen such terrible communication, processes, etc.

As the evolving market shifts expectations for designers, there's something to be said about the lack of acknowledgment that many, many contemporary designers have really only ever gotten to work on growth optimizations.

Just jumping back into the market after taking a break, and it's kind of wild. Here I was, thinking I'm hot shit 😂

An absolute/unquestioning reverence towards AI is a pretty strong indicator that one lacks an understanding of design to begin with.

For people that have been designers for 8+ years, what are you career goals now? I need someone to tell me what mine should be...
