V10 or V12 engine of Formula 1 car, roaring live!
as someone who knows nothing about race cars, how do those two types of engines sound different from one another?
This video is actually V8 engine (another type): youtube.com/watch?v=1Z7PqJ… but it's also quite good. The thing is, when you watch F1 race on video you can't really feel it. But once you hear F1 engine live it's just pure madness.
It's the most ridiculous and exciting noise you can hear (especially if you're petrolhead as I am). These engines noise make surroundings and air around you literally rumble and vibrate. Current engines are smaller, more efficient and eco-friendly so they are not as loud anymore.
fascinating! love the thought of rumbling and vibrating air. closest i've ever gotten to that feeling (without being near a race car) is attending a tim hecker concert where he was playing the organ in a church. it was a whole-body loud more so than ear loud.
When I was young, during Christmas my dad would dress up as Santa for all the kids, and even though I knew it was just an act, the ringing of bells made me happy because I knew it was him. After he passed, no one continued the tradition. Hearing those bells would make my day. 🥹
i hope you get to hear it again soon! makes me think of this series by sophie calle: perrotin.com/artists/Sophie…
