There’s a great book called The Art of Travel. In it Alain talks about how our expectations of our holiday can ruin the actual experience. Really good book. goodreads.com/book/show/2342…
I learned that travelling is actually mentally and physically exhausting. It's more of an opportunity to get a refreshed perspective on the world after being stuck in the same spot for too long.
Oh yes, this is a fine book. There’s also this blog post by Meg Robichaud from 2015, that resonated with me when I was solo travelling that year.
There’s a saying goes something like “travelling is just when you are so bored of being at one place, you go to another place where the locals are also share the same boredom as you do everyday”…
Travelling, not touring. It’s not that we shouldn’t visit touristy places at all, but thinking more on what knowledge/experience we can gain from them: are we just checking items off from bucket list, posting on social media, or are we ready to get new perspective of the world?
