Anyone else feel like work has become increasingly transactional over the past 4 years?

Something magical happens when a designer discovers optical alignment for the first time and then “sees” it everywhere. What have been some of these moments for you?

I smile whenever I see bugs and weirdness in apps. It’s a reminder that a group of humans, all with their own stories and origins, got together and made a thing.

Designers over 40: what are some important things you’ve learned about yourself and the industry in your time?

So incredibly hard for junior PMs and designers right now. I have no idea what to tell them when it comes to breaking into the market in the next 2-3 years. 😔

Some days I leave a meeting thinking to myself: “wow I suck at this design stuff”

My new goal is to be that weird designer at work. I think I’m mostly already there.

Being in the grocery store with 5 mins left until they close, means you’ve gotta put on Mombasa by Hans Zimmer and boot it down the aisles.

I’ve worked my way up to a 5 minute cold shower every morning. Coming out of that shower with a pretty decent shiver 🥶

Good people are really hard to come by in life. Take care of each other.

A lot of designers wait for inspiration to hit, or wait for a great idea to come along. I have been this designer. But more often than not these days I just do the work. And keep doing it. Great ideas will take care of themselves.

Being wrong is the only way for me to feel that I’ve learned something

I’m not griping, but I absolutely love how Apple can’t get the bullets looking right for their app description on their own App Store.
