About a month ago, I switched from working for a large public company to a smaller organization working in the civic tech space. If anyone working in this space has civic-tech-specific books, conferences or resources to share I'd love to hear about them!
My husband has been finishing his degree online and if there’s one field that truly needs disrupting, OH MY GOOD LORD is it distance learning. I constantly watch him attempt to navigate this platform and I can feel my blood pressure go up when I see how poorly designed it is.
Today in Adorable News: the bar we go to and play chess currently has THREE other tables playing chess and the bartender says we started a thing. Folks are swapping tables to play with one another. Y’all, we started a Third Place and I feel like I finally accomplished something♟️
Rode “The Carousel of Happiness” (yes ✨) on one of the hand carved animals that were all crafted within my lifetime by a local artist who still drops by to repair and paint them - music provided by a 1913 Wurlitzer band organ. Ridiculously charming 🎠

Went to a “History of Cumbia” lecture and lesson tonight and it really reignited my love of dance. Spent the evening watching some of my favorite performances including this one by the Gran Ballet Argentino. TRY not to have feelings: youtu.be/2ilWg6QwKmE
