What platform, and what specific kind of distance learning? Is it schooling, or something more involved?
My husband has been finishing his degree online and if there’s one field that truly needs disrupting, OH MY GOOD LORD is it distance learning. I constantly watch him attempt to navigate this platform and I can feel my blood pressure go up when I see how poorly designed it is.
Unsure of the platform but it’s university-wide and required for all online coursework for a B.A. It’s so frustrating that he’s thinking of adjusting his work schedule so he can switch to in-person. It’s obfuscated readings, video lectures, time-based quizzes that error out, etc.
Man. Sounds like an older university who’s probably just trying to keep things together instead of moving to a whole new platform.
College CIOs and IT departments are sadly not informed about platforms, these big ERPs keep buying up each other and the switching costs are impossible. A modular use case that could be customized and was cheap to deploy would work, but way less lucrative.
