4-day Product design take-home assignment after a first interview. What’s the hiring team really going for? I’m struggling to achieve outstanding UI in 2 days. What can I do to improve? 🥺

Not sure how the problem was framed, but in my experience design assignments are often used to see how designers frame and define problems, and what they choose to focus on. Creating outstanding UI on top of that is just one part of the equation.

I don't think the expectation is to come up with a perfect, accessible interface. You've already shown what you choose to focus on (research, user conversations, plan of action) and if that's what that team values that is good!

Showing the direction that you were going in with UI, being able to articulate what you'd do if you have more time, and being honest and acknowledging that you aren't satisfied with where you are is enough in my book.
