Chick-lit, a term that has generally fallen out of favor, is often viewed as a "low-brow" literary genre that has been unfairly stigmatized for various reasons, each of which warrants closer examination. Just finished my first Paul Auster novel, "Baumgartner." It's a profound character study of aging and memories. Sy Baumgartner's journey of pain, loss and hope at 70 is captivating. Auster's simple prose guides us through our hero's memories effortlessly.
