somewhere along the line we confused "make it easy to use" with "make it addictive". The latter is for the company, the former is for the user.

Connection and Box Performance Up [New]

Even in complex spaces, editing cards stays snappy, scrolling doesn't hiccup, and dragging cards with connections is ultra-smooth.

And also, connection labels and direction animations now update while you drag.

Collaborator Pings [New]

When you need to exclaim "Hey look over here!", right-click to ping your position to everyone else. They'll see it no matter where they are in the space.

There’s an inherent tension between “you should use the tool a certain way to get the most out of it (especially in the long-term)”, and “you should use the tool the way you want”. 

You want Mexican food from the tacoria. But sometimes you’re there but craving burgers?

It’s been requested so often that the next major feature will be the ability to connect boxes to cards, and to other boxes.

Compact Space Users List [New]

When people join a space, either as spectators or collaborators, they’ll do a little bow to introduce themselves

Once a space has too many spectators or collaborators to display comfortably, a button appears to view and manage everyone

When the name of a card or box contains a headline, the Fonts button will appear, allowing you to find the right font for your

Planning for Kinopio Teams has officially begun. 

Whether their bosses know it or not, people already use Kinopio at work already for white-boarding, meeting notes, and collaborative brainstorming. So the goal is to make it easier for small businesses to adopt and manage it.

Connect Boxes [New]

Just like how it works with cards, drag from boxes to create connections to cards, and to other boxes. 

Helpful for things like connecting groups of ideas to each other, and for documenting workflows. Though I'm sure you'll come up with other creative uses

Comment Mode [New]

Toggle on comment mode to default to leave comments instead of regular cards when you don't want to disrupt a space. To make it easier and safer to gather feedback, visitors to Open spaces can only leave comments.

So many great fonts out there, basically un-considerable because the foundry website doesn't offer trial font downloads. Online type-testers and PDF specimens are not trials.

Customizable h1/h2 fonts is coming next. There's a *lot* of trial and error in finding fonts that work well together, can set an atmosphere, and are unique. These aren't the standard google/adobe fonts you'll find everywhere else.

Sleeping on this one. It's less exciting than the slanted versions but less likely to feel old, the thicc text conveys 'solid' and 'reliable' better so I thickened the strokes on the logo to match it better

Looks like I’m free today to finish writing a blog post. Normally, it takes me a day of doing nothing to switch from code brain to word brain. I’ve fixed every critical bug but prob won’t have much time before new ones come in – so I’m just gonna have to force the words out

It's hard for me to enjoy quiet slow foundational work where you have nothing exciting to show for a week or more. These times are peaceful, but feel deafeningly empty.

WIP Optimizing the performance of connection lines and as a bonus connection labels and direction animations will be able to update while you drag.

Card Dragging Performance Up [New]

This space has 100+ connection lines which caused the old version (top window) to start to getting choppy when moving cards. Now (bottom window) it's smooth like velvet, swift as a breeze. 

(Also loading spaces is like 2x faster too)

The world of videogame reviewing is so rich and varied, reviews are a great way to discover new things to play that I'd never have found on my own. Comparatively, the world of people talking about web software seems like it's mostly thinly veiled affiliate marketing?

My collection of type has been shaped by what I could afford at the time and which were offering trials. Some excellent foundries totally bypassed but I’m happy with my collection.
