Did they say they are going to allow for standby mode apps? It would be so fun to create something ambient for it 🌌

They’re just standard widgets, so yes, a normal “widget app” would work here! Sadly, only the 14 Pro/Pro Max support the always on display mode. Otherwise you’ll have to “tap” the screen to get a quick peek. Also needs to be connected to a power source…..

I’m not sure this is open to 3rd party widgets- have u checked the Apple developer website? Let us know what u find 🙂

I rewatched the announcement again and they do mention 3rd party widgets, so yes, hopefully! I haven’t check the developer docs yet though

Yeah really looking forward to this! Interesting they said that it will detect the device but I wonder which devices that already exist will allow for that configuration… I have one by my bed and one on my desk, so would be cool to have different modes.

Oh I think I missed that part! Yeah it’d be great to set in different modes for different context

Haha yess! I’ve always looked for something like this, but home devices felt like too much for me. Just something with ambience and a bit of flexibility was what I needed, and now it’s coming up!

I loved it too! although it makes my 3-in-1 wireless charger which is flat/horizontal much less useful now
