Why did Reddit not just BUY Apollo? They could have gone public, charged LLM’s these new charges and kept user support on their side. What am I missing? Is this just the biggest own goal?
I listened to Christians take on the verge podcast. Not heard the CEO’s yet, only saw his AMA
this seems as unclear as why Google sells Domains atm… both situations do not seem to be about money
Google does love to kill off products, but yeah that was an interesting sell...
From interviews with the CEO, it feels that he’s upset that LLM’s have greatly benefitted from reading Reddit’s data. So he’s undertaken a scorched earth policy, without nuance, against all 3rd parties interested in using Reddit’s data and API’s.
