Who’s looking to build a Posts Alternative?

I know people would love to try and create an alternative to Posts.cv I’m seeing a few people throwing the idea around.

I can potentially help out a little on the financial side, as well as design. 

Let me know if you have any ideas.

Some people are having issues with ‘Accept’ on design.style/cv-import I’m investigating and added better error messages, please let me know if you experience this!

Added ‘Contact’ section that was missing and pushed some bug fixes mostly formatting issues with description of readcv sections design.style/cv-import

Not perfect yet, no rich text editor or media yet but will get to those after working on some core features and homepage

Props to you for that! And good luck with the app. It’s so intriguing to watch how Posts is triggering premium indie-hacking here.

added a 'cv' domain for *just* the cv page (no ui), this is good for future-proofing as i expand the profile page to include posts and other profile-y things

my MO is to funnel people design.style until feb 28. please either let me know directly if any posts are problematic (or block) but am asking to not 'Report Post' bc that emails andy and he has enough to deal with rn, ty!

@jobs is building something closer to read.cv with design.style, you can even import your read.cv profile

I'll leave it to @mehdi to cover our infra but — we manage infra costs via our monetization channels (supporters, job listings, etc). It cost around $4k a month to run.

What if we all kindly email Perplexity to ask for keeping Posts alive?

For platforms to be sticky, they need to both offer something that pulls people in, as well as something that keeps them around. Read cv pulled people in with good looking cvs. Maintaining their profile, exploring featured projects, or having theirs featured kept people around.

Is there a way we can petition Perplexity to keep posts alive?

Our data set is pretty small in the grand scheme of things. Their motivation is growing their design and engineering team.

I’m afraid Bluesky will become polar opposite of twitter (in the types of people on there). I just want what posts had. People that cared about design and building.

So I may or may not be in the Posts doghouse due to some of my posts being reported but this week I’ll be working on getting design.style profile pages up. 

I want to structure them like readcv profiles and see if I can import using the cv exports.

It’ll started with cron, then campsite, now read_cv. What's up with all these cool designer-led products disappearing?

what does everyone think of dribbble's search function? anything about it that's lacking or could be improved (specifically with discovering work and getting hired)

Really respect the choice that @cv has made to sell to Perplexity (congrats by the way!). But now I am wondering if I should build an alternative since we have a void in the space. 🤔

ran into an issue with an errant backend storage cleanup script and currently user images were deleted on design.style. i've started a ticket to upstream provider support to restore the images... will update if i can get them back

backend dev issues :/

For a new platform to win, it needs to be at the same level of polish as the alternatives in the market, and offer something additional which is drastically different or better. It’s damn hard, and that’s why many fail, but I wish you all the best of luck!

This platform should not stop existing because it's the only place where I've found 10/10 design professionals. I hate that it has to end. Why do good things have to go.

Yes ! It was a peaceful place where people shared more about design and lifestyle stuff. InTwitter replacements, it’s just the jungle and it’s a little tiresome to be honest.

If I were to start again I would hire someone to focus on business partnerships — we may have been able to spin up a white glove recruiting business? Not something we're passionate about, but may have been a more significant source of revenue.

Made a rookie mistake. 

Will do Object Versioning and/or do soft deletes to clean up unposted images in storage on design.style. Will be reaching out to those affected to repost affected images, thanks in advance for your understanding 🫂
