Probably because good PMs are about as abundant as diamonds.

I know I am in the minority, but I actually really love having a good PM to work with. The anti-PM rhetoric come out of Config is sorta baffling to me.

A good PM, yes; worth their weight in gold, eight times over.

But *good* PMs are rare.

And a !good PM? Gives everyone the illusion of empowerment, direction and velocity, while simultaneously getting between the team and those things

i think it's getting blown out of proportion. when you see the talk with brian chesky it's part of a whole conversation around giving designers more autonomy/control/responsibility.
