i think it's getting blown out of proportion. when you see the talk with brian chesky it's part of a whole conversation around giving designers more autonomy/control/responsibility.

A good PM, yes; worth their weight in gold, eight times over. But *good* PMs are rare. And a !good PM? Gives everyone the illusion of empowerment, direction and velocity, while simultaneously getting between the team and those things
