Techbros can't take their imagination beyond the most basic sci-fi reference. It gives me a lot of thinking how we have begun to confuse inventors with producers.

this needs to be put on a 24hr megaphone for the entirety of Palo Alto to hear lmao - if the responsibility can't drill that in, maybe information overload would do it

When something like this happens it automatically makes certain tech leaders look dumb for seemingly not understanding the point of a movie/book/other media.. Or maybe they're trying to be cute? Idek. Soylent being a meal replacement company still confuses me lol

It could just be laziness in the form of trying to leverage a pre-existing piece of media (ideally something popular or mainstream) to capitalize off of it in some way which.. is probably what is happening

Yeah the details of that fiasco are so messy. Aside from leaning into dystopian themes, it's also not very reassuring to know that the people forging the way in AI are so cavalier with their decisions, especially with a tech that so many are worried about spiraling out of control

To me it had was way less sci-fi dystopia vibes, way more Silicon Valley bros doing their usual sh*t, which now I think about it is super sci-fi dystopian actually

I mostly just think it’s astoundingly impressive how rapidly this tech is progressing. It’s mind-blowing to me that this even exists, given that this was a science fiction movie just a few years ago. I can’t begin to imagine where tech will be in another decade!

I think they over calculated... Her was a niche movie. Try something new. be more creative.

Tasteless and gives me less faith in Sam Altman

when the iPad was released all the women I talked to at apple were grossed out bexsyse it sounded like a pad for your period. we mocked it endlessly. but the *guys* in charge were in love with it because PADD came from star trek TNG. anyway the Sky voice is gross.
