Seems like a stealthy way to underpay 1 person to do the work of a multidisciplinary team
Many freelancers are generalists, they can handle the work of a multi-disciplinary team and they are paid accordingly. People can be underpaid only in-house. Running an independent studio means you set your rates.
Fully handling projects - from initial brief to launch and beyond. Few people can plan, design and build projects and they are very valuable these days. For example product designers need to be generalists - not that so many of them actually are...
