Retro comes very close to this if you are into an instagram-style format. My extended family uses Letterloop to stay in touch

I love retro!! I think it’s probably the best “social media” app out there right now.

One of my favourite Spotify features was the “what are your friends listening to right now” panel - but they clearly didn’t evolve their product that way and I find it disappointing. Music is so inherently social!

As a news junkie I used to love Circle News. It allowed you to follow stories you were interested in and get updates on them when something new happened.
